Unleash the Beast: 5 Games where you play the monster

Let’s be real – there are days when going through the hero’s journey is tiresome. There are some days where you’re bored of being the knight in shining armor, and you’d rather just get a taste of being the big bad. If you’re looking towards playing monsters or beasties, don’t worry – video games will allow you to indulge in your power fantasies.

In this list, we’re going to go through 5 games where you get to play the “Titular” Big Bad. There won’t be any humans here – instead we’ll be destroying them! From sharks, aliens, and other beasties, this list will give you options to indulge in that monstrous side!

Maneater Game

Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

In Maneater, you’re a bull shark that embarks on a bloody beach killing spree for vengeance. The Shark Hunter Scaly Pete murdered your mother for sport and disfigured you for fun, and so now you have a taste for revenge.

Set in the fictional Port Clovis (somewhere in Florida), you’ll be exploring various biomes and areas. Rich with life to consume, it’ll be your job to chomp your way through your enemies. You’ll be facing crocodiles, killer whales, giant squid, and a plethora of other enemies in these dangerous waters.

Throughout this entire feeding spree, you’ll be allowed to evolve and develop your shark. Want to become a living battering ram? You can grow bony osteoderms to make your shark a living torpedo. Need to kill your enemies from far? Evolve bioelectric fins that allow you to shoot lightning bolts.

If you’re looking to become the deadliest bull shark in the 7 seas, look no further than Maneater!

Destroy All Humans!

Destroy All Humans! Game

Available on: PC, PS4, and Xbox One (upcoming 2020 reboot)

This game is not exactly as gory as the other games on this list, but still full of comical violence. In Destroy All Humans, you play as Cryptosporidium 13 – or “Crypto” for short. In the hopes of saving your alien race, you’ll be needing to extract the brain stems from the dumb local humans.

Of course, the dumb local humans don’t appreciate anal probing aliens. The military and their shadowy organization, Majestic, will throw tanks, soldiers, and bombs to stop you.

But you don’t have to fear – you’re an alien – dealing with the military will be a piece of cake. From nasty anal probes, atomic death rays, to psychokinesis – you have a plethora of alien weapons at your disposal to make your human eradicating job easier.

Currently, this game is available for the PS2 only. Thankfully, a remaster of the game is slated for release on July 28, 2020. In just a few months, you’ll be able to experiment and murder humans in HD graphics!

Vampyr Game

Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

If there’s one thing that’s been lacking in video games, it’s the “Vampire” genre. There haven’t been a lot of video games where we get to play vampires, and in the games where we can it’s a side show (ahem Skyrim).

Vampyr is that modern vampire video game we’ve been looking for. You play as Jonathan Reid, a doctor who awakens as a Vampire in the dark, gloomy world of the United Kingdom back in World War 1.

Jonathan Reid as plenty of dilemma’s to go through. As a Doctor, it’s his job to serve and protect his patients. However, as a Vampire, to survive and grow on power he needs to feed on people.

But if you’re on this list – I’m certain you’re here without any care for the Hippocratic oath. As a Vampire, you’ll do the job and research of understanding your prey. Once you lure your unsuspecting dinner to a secluded spot, you may now feed and level up your vampiric abilities. As a vampire, you can transform your fingers into deadly claws, throw blood spears, and use other dastardly powers of the night.

But you’re not the only vampire in London. Other vampires will be seeking to compete and murder you for meals. There are also vampire hunters looking to drive vampire kind to extinction.

Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight Game

Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile

No need to worry about death here. If you’re playing the killer that is. In Dead by Daylight, 4 survivors must escape the demented world of an eldritch god called “the Entity”. To escape, these 4 survivors must repair generators around the map to open a door to freedom.

Repairing the generators may sound like an easy task, but throughout the game they’ll be hunted by a player, playing as a deadly supernatural killer. His job is simple – prevent everyone else’s escape so the killer can sacrifice the survivors in a cruel ritual.

Can do the survivors do anything against the killer? Nope, not much at all. Apart from stunning him/her by dropping wooden pallets on them, the Survivor’s death is inevitable if they don’t escape.

If you’re looking to play supernatural, invincible serial killers, then Dead by Daylight is the game for you! You’ll be able to choose from a wide roster of killers, from original ones from the game to licensed characters like Ghostface and the Demogorgon.

Alien vs Predator

Alien vs Predator Game

Available on: PC, PS3, Xbox 360

If you’ve been wondering what a showdown between the notorious Alien and the powerful Predator, then this game is for you! In this game, 3 factions: The Predators, The Aliens, and the human Colonial Marines, find themselves in a deadly face-off for power.

This game presents players with campaigns for the Predators, Aliens, and the Colonial Marines. The Colonial Marines campaign is your usual FPS thoroughfare. It’s in the Alien and Predator campaigns where the game shines.

In the Predator campaign, you gain access to the Predator’s powerful arsenal. From razor sharp wristblades, explosive plasma casters, and sweeping combi-sticks, the Predator is fully equipped to take on the greatest hunt of all time.

On the other hand, in the Alien campaign, you’ll have to think like a cunning extraterrestrial nightmare. You’ll be crawling across walls and ceilings, sticking to the darkness, and pouncing from the shadows. What you lack in tech, you make up in vicious animal cunning. And of course, the Alien experience wouldn’t be complete without offering humans to the nasty face-huggers.

So if you’re looking to play two “monsters” for the price of one, time to get Alien vs Predator!
