Messenger is one of the prominent messaging apps currently present in the market, but even an app as huge as Messenger can have its fair share of problems from time to time. There are also times when no information is available directly from the app and they are only vaguely addressed occasionally causing a great deal of confusion for users.
One of such issues is the “This person is unavailable on Messenger” error, where you become unable to contact a specific person on the app, and if you do not possess any other means to communicate with that person then it can cause some inconveniences for you. Luckily, we have prepared this guide for you to navigate through this issue and even be able to solve it.
Remember us mentioning “vague messenger issues”, this is one of those errors. There can be a plethora of reasons behind it and the ones we know of are mentioned below:
Poor Internet Connection:
An elementary problem like a poor internet connection can be the reason behind your troubles. Often, in the case when the app cannot get a stable connection it becomes unable to properly connect to its servers and ends up showing this error.
The reasons behind an unstable internet could either be low internet speeds provided by your ISP and if that is not the case then it can also be caused by too many devices using up data on the connection. It can also occur when you are using data that generally cannot provide good speeds in remote areas.
Solution: Try doing an internet speed test, we recommend Ookla. If it turns out that the speed of your connection is at an unusable level, then ask your Internet Provider to upgrade it. This will result in getting a higher internet bill but will exponentially increase your user experience.
In the case where too many devices are using up your data, then you can block unwanted devices through your router settings or limit their usage. You can also set your own device as a priority. Your experience with data connection depends on your distance from the nearest tower and your mobile device so not much can be done about that.
The Recipient’s Account is Deactivated or Deleted:
Facebook does not notify you when someone from your friends list deletes or deactivates their account. They simply tell you that they are no longer available on the app. Do note that it is not necessary that they have deleted or deactivated by choice, rather it could be that this action was taken by Facebook themselves for a violation of their guidelines.
Solution: If the person or Facebook has deleted their account then nothing can be done except for them to make a new account, though if it has only been deactivated then you will be able to contact them after a certain period of time.
The User Blocked You:
Although a bit hard to take in, it is possible that the person you are trying to contact has blocked you. There is a slight chance that it was done mistakenly but this is highly unlikely.
You can verify whether you have been blocked or not by going through your Facebook memories and try clicking on their name or profile picture, if you are able to do so then congrats you have not been blocked, and if not then you know the reason.
Solution: Well, there is not much that can be done by your side except for trying to talk to them and figuring out what is wrong if you wish to continue having relations with the said person but if not then you can simply leave things be and continue with your life.
Conclusion:
You wanted to talk to someone and as soon as you open their chat you are greeted with a message, “This person is unavailable on messenger”, and now you are confused as to why that is.
